In 2013, my coach noticed some peculiarities with my running gait and suggested I visit an MAT Specialist to determine if it was due to muscle imbalances and weaknesses. There was also concern in making sure I could continue to run for many years. I started getting MAT treatment and after a while, I noticed that I was not having knee pain and that my running gait was much more symmetrical. After seeing and feeling the benefits of being an MAT client, I decided to become an MAT Specialist myself. I thought that if MAT can help me, then it can help a lot of people! The theory behind MAT also resonated with my background in engineering. My university degrees are in electrical engineering, with an emphasis in feedback control systems and communications for electronic circuits. Analogously, there are feedback loops between the nervous system and the muscular system in the body. MAT helps to ensure those are communicating clearly with each other so that the muscles can function optimally.

Prior to MAT, I worked for almost 20 years as a software engineer. My favorite aspect of that was investigating and debugging code to help solve customer’s problems and create robust solutions for them. That carries over to my passion for doing MAT – investigating and “debugging” a client’s biomechanical system to help get rid of pain and improve strength and mobility.

Over the years, I found MAT to be the best way to keep my body going in life and athletics, day in and day out. I receive regular MAT and strength training sessions to ensure that the muscles continue to work optimally as I continue with triathlon training.

I am a certified MAT Rx Whole Body specialist, Master level specialist, and certified MAT Rx Hand and Foot specialist.
